Trauma

Trauma

So called "Psychiatric trauma" is essentially a normal response to an extreme event. It involves the creation of emotional memories about the distressful event that are stored in structures deep within the mind and manifest in the sensate body. In general, the more direct the exposure to a traumatic event, the higher the risk for emotional harm.

Although it is possible to use hypnosis to process trauma, it is not my first choice, preferring instead EMDR or some other model such as the rewind technique.

Trauma tends to produce a limited range of disorders with readily identifiable symptoms.
